Foundations of Soldering / Torch work

Learn how to master soldering in this hands-on workshop to take your jewellery making to the next level. 

During this professional practice, Nathan Thomas, a goldsmith of 20+ years' experience, will guide you through all the steps of torch work and provide his tips for successful soldering, including:

- Choose the correct type of torch and how to make a proper home setup
- Safe work practices

- Solders and fluxes- What / How much / Types / use cases
- Clean joins, Joint preparation 

- Butt joins / sweat solder/ temperature control

- Silver vs Gold- What are the differences.

- How to solder like a pro
- Butane vs. Propane and when to use oxygen.

The class will be for 3 students maximum and will run for approximately 3 hours.
